Spring hike across flowering crocus meadows
Nature awakens in the flower meadows: The hiking tip of the week offers a sporty hike from the town of Deutschlandsberg to Trahütten.
When the crocuses sprout from the sometimes still wintry ground and the meadows turn into a sea of purple flowers, the hiking spring starts and with it the joy of outdoor exercise. This hiking tip will delight you with its journey by train, with a town as the starting point, varied terrain, soothing deciduous forests, perfectly marked and signposted paths, Trahütten as an "open-air museum" and the numerous crocuses along the way. A spring hike that can be described as "highly recommended"!
We start at the train station and walk across the main square - following the direction of the path - to the entrance to the hermitage (381 m). Hiking trail 13 (Ruhripanoramaweg Trahütten) leads over the bridge and a little later uphill to the left - steeper in between - through the forest. Once you reach an asphalt road, keep to the right and hike comfortably uphill to the Ruhri farmstead, where a lovely hiking rest area invites you to take a break.

Passing a game reserve, the trail leads through the forest and across meadows to the Weinebene country road and continues along the panoramic "Obstallee" to Trahütten (994 m). At the municipal office, we cross the main road and follow Alpine Club Trail 14, which leads past the Trahütten fire station on the Alexander Kortschak Trail to the Jägersteig.
We hike downhill through the deciduous forest to the marked detour (bridge closed) and shortly afterwards reach Deutschlandsberg Castle via the valley floor and a short ascent in the opposite direction. The descent leads across the colorful crocus meadows back to our starting point.
