Bischofshofen soccer boss fires up before the election
BSK boss Patrick Reiter has the urge to score goals. And is now using unconventional means to get involved in the battle for mayor of Bischofshofen. Reiter published chats with the city politicians on the club's website.
In sporting terms, the Bischofshofen soccer club BSK is once again flying high and is in fourth place in the regional league. For years, former judoka Patrick Reiter has been at the forefront of the fight for the future of the soccer club. What is missing above all is a worthy sports ground for the club. Recently, concrete plans for a new sports center in the city came to nothing - the costs rose to more than 25 million euros. Mayor Hansjörg Obinger (SPÖ) had to pull the ripcord.
In recent weeks, Reiter has once again turned to politicians and the public to clarify important questions about the future of the BSK once and for all. For example, he sent a list of questions to Bischofshofen's SPÖ, ÖVP and FPÖ. The "Krone" reported several times on the conditions at the BSK square. To this day, the matter remains unresolved.
Legal action not ruled out
Only the FPÖ subsequently responded to the questions, and Reiter has now published the answers. He also posted private chat messages about the case with Obinger and ÖVP leader Josef Mairhofer on the association's website. Both politicians reacted angrily to the procedure. "I was not asked. I think the publication sufficiently describes Patrick Reiter's character for me," said Obinger on the matter. Legal action is not ruled out.
His deputy mayor had a similar reaction. "Patrick Reiter is once again doing the club no good," says Mairhofer. And Reiter? For him, it's finally time to get answers to the many unanswered questions. "The timing has been deliberately chosen by the BSK management," says the sports boss.
In any case, the municipality cannot say much more about the concrete future than that: The urgently needed renovation at the current soccer pitch will be implemented. Regardless of the outcome of the election on Sunday.
