VSV goes down completely!
7:0! KAC releases the brakes and blows Vorarlberg away
What a gala performance by the Red Jackets in their third play-off duel with Vorarlberg! After taking a 1:0 lead, all the dams broke, the visitors were completely blown away and made it 2:1 in the series. Only a miracle can save VSV after a 1:6 defeat in Bolzano!
The Red Jackets also needed some time to get going in their third quarter-final clash against Vorarlberg. But when captain Hundertpfund put the KAC into the lead from close range (13th) at the latest, the button was fully opened. Less than a minute later, Ganahl increased the lead after a solo run on guest goalie Madlener, and in minute 16 Mursak dusted off at the second post to make it 3:0. The home side then struck the metal three more times.
Two braces
And the second period continued in the same vein, with the KAC pressing throughout - and scoring ice-cold! Ganahl and Hundertpfund each scored their second goals and Obersteiner and Jensen Aabo increased the lead to 7:0 after 40 minutes. In the end, the score remained 7:0 and Klagenfurt finally shook off their offensive rust. The series is now 2:1 in favor of the KAC.
Third empty-netter for the Villach Eagles! Bolzano's Teves scored in the first powerplay for the home side to take the lead (5th). Villach once again hardly came into their own offensively. In minute 14, however, Desjardins had a chance of a thousand, which he banged over the goal.
Rescue to the hospital
Villach's Golod then checked Bolzano's Frank hard from the side. Frank was even unconscious and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. After studying the video, referees Huber and Zrnic gave two minutes, which could also have been a "match penalty" (18th).
"Playing time penalty" for Desjardins
Desjardins then received one of these from the very unsure-looking referee duo. The VSV international made a normal check on Di Perna, who unfortunately hit his head on the ice (22'). The referees sent him to the showers despite the video review.
Now a win is needed
After another penalty, Villach conceded 0:2 (24') in a 3:5 short-handed game, then Bolzano scored again with one man more - 0:3 (26'). The fourth goal was also scored in overtime. In the end it was 1:6, leaving the Eagles 3-0 down in the series! Now they have to win at home on Saturday, otherwise the season is over.
