Anna Gandler finishes eighth in the pursuit
After finishing sixth in the sprint, Anna Gandler has also impressed in the 10 km pursuit at the Biathlon World Cup in Soldier Hollow in eighth place.
The Tyrolean started and finished flawlessly, but made one mistake in each of the two middle shooting stages. France's Lou Jeanmonnot won the final sprint ahead of Italy's Lisa Vittozzi (+0.4 sec.) and her compatriot Julia Simon (+1:01.0 min.). In the men's 12.5 km race, Norway's Johannes Thingnes Bö came out on top.
Gandler was 1:26.2 behind, her teammates finished outside the top 30. "Looking at the three days, I felt almost the best today. In terms of skiing, it wasn't as hard as I expected. However, I found shooting very difficult today, because I had quite a lot of movement in the gun, but I honestly don't know exactly why yet," said Gandler. She was "of course very happy" with eighth place.
Season finale imminent
In the men's race, Frenchman Emilien Jacquelin was the athlete to watch for a long time. After two clean shoots as the leader, he pushed the pace enormously in the third, missed three times and fell back.
After a flawless fourth shooting, he went back into the cross-country ski run as the leader, but was unable to withstand the pressure of the charging Norwegians and finished third, 7.1 seconds behind Johannes Thingnes Bö. Second place went to Tarjei Bö (+6.4). The best Austrian was Simon Eder in 35th place (+3:45.3 min.). The World Cup ends next week in Canmore (Canada).
