A devastating fire destroyed the home of Sandra Eder and her young daughter. The woman from Oberndorf was left with nothing - the "Krone" readers could not let that happen.

These are moments that are forever etched in her memory. Not a day goes by without Sandra Eder thinking back to them. November 9 of the previous year turned the young mother's life completely upside down.

Together with her partner at the time, Eder was celebrating her daughter Anastasia's fifth birthday at her home in Uferstraße in Oberndorf. Before going to bed, they heated up the wood-burning stove on the first floor and then went to sleep on the second floor. Eder woke up in the middle of the night - there was already a lot of smoke on the first floor and the stove had caught fire. The family fled to the balcony and the fire department rescued Eder and her loved ones. "You wouldn't wish such an experience on your worst enemy," says Eder, still shocked.

Donation campaign raised almost 6200 euros
The house is still uninhabitable. And yet the young mother can look positively to the future again. The "Krone" newspaper reported on her fate, launched a fundraising campaign - and readers showed their great willingness to help. They donated almost 6,200 euros for Sandra Eder and her daughter. "Tremendous! From now on, things can really only go uphill," says the Oberndorf resident happily.

Eder has now moved into a new apartment. She wants to use the money from "Krone" readers to furnish her new home. "I had absolutely nothing left, all my household goods were gone," she says. The Salzburg native now also wants to fulfill a special wish: "I can now buy myself an Alibert for the bathroom." Postscript: "I can then also take it back to my home."

Mother wants to return to the Brand house
What does the young mother mean by that? Eder really wants to move back into the house in Uferstrasse as soon as possible. "I grew up here, my grandmother already lived here. I really want to live here again, together with my daughter," enthuses the Oberndorf native.

But there is still a long way to go. Inside the house, the walls are still full of soot, there are burnt household items lying around and the smell of smoke is everywhere. Massive and costly renovation work is waiting Eder has not yet received any money from her insurance company. "But it's finally underway."
