Trondheim: Four ÖSV eagles in the top 10 at half-time
Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi won the normal hill competition in Trondheim on Tuesday. He finished ahead of Slovenia's Peter Prevc and ÖSV eagle Jan Hörl. Stefan Kraft has extended his lead in the Raw Air series.
Ski jumping star Stefan Kraft may have missed his next podium finish in fifth place on the new normal hill in Trondheim, but the man from Salzburg still extended his lead in the Raw Air series. Third-placed Jan Hörl was another Austrian on the podium at the venue of the 2025 World Championships on Tuesday. The victory went to Kraft's first overall World Cup rival Ryoyu Kobayashi, the Japanese won 0.9 points ahead of Peter Prevc (SLO) and 1.9 ahead of Hörl.
On Wednesday, the competition will take place on the newly built large hill in Trondheim. Kraft goes into this competition as the clear leader in the raw air ranking, now 20 points ahead of Norway's Johann Andre Forfang. There are still four competitions to go. In the overall World Cup, eleven-time season winner Kraft's lead over Kobayashi has shrunk slightly, but he is still a comfortable 221 points ahead of the Japanese with five competitions to go.
Good second run
Kraft improved by three positions with a strong final jump from eighth place. "I was hoping to move up even further, but it wasn't meant to be, it's very tight on the small hill. It's a shame that it wasn't enough for the podium," said Kraft, who was 2.3 points short of podium number 18 this winter.
Hörl made up one place in the second run and finished in the top three for the seventh time this winter. "I'm mega happy with third place. The podium was the goal. It boosts my self-confidence. I hope it continues like this," said Hörl.
