"Deep gratitude"
Lenny Kravitz honored with star on Walk Of Fame
US rock star Lenny Kravitz ("Are You Gonna Go My Way") now has a star in Hollywood. In front of cheering fans, the singer unveiled the plaque on the famous "Walk of Fame" in the heart of the film metropolis on Tuesday.
He moved from New York to Los Angeles with his mother when he was eleven years old. As a "naive teenager", he learned everything about music, creativity and life on the streets of LA. Back then, he admired the stars of his idols on Hollywood Boulevard, but never dreamed of being immortalized there himself.
Kravitz recalled the times when he slept in a car, worked as a dishwasher and in a fish market and bought his first guitar at the age of twelve.
Daughter honored "cool dad" with speech
As guest speaker, his daughter, actress and model Zoë Kravitz (35), paid tribute to her "cool dad". It's not just his mesh shirts, which he wears all the time, that are cool, the daughter joked. He also inspires with his zest for life and his great love of music.
Kravits and Denzel Washington like "brothers"
Hollywood star Denzel Washington (69) raved about his long, close friendship with Lenny Kravitz. They are like twin brothers without looking alike, said the actor. Kravitz has an "incredible talent" and an "incredible heart".E
"I'm grateful for all the flowers people give me. I feel a deep sense of gratitude. But of course I don't do art and music for that. I do it for me because I simply HAVE to do it. I have no choice. But I'm very honored to be immortalized on the same street as the Beatles and some of my heroes."
