Against lab-grown meat: FPÖ collects signatures
The Carinthian Blue Party is calling for a total ban: they fear the acceleration of farmers' deaths and health risks.
Although it has not even been approved in the EU yet, it is already causing fierce controversy: we are talking about lab-grown meat, which according to its proponents - as reported - is intended to reduce the CO2 footprint of the meat industry, among other things.
While some see the future in laboratory production, the project is particularly offensive to farmers: "This will once again accelerate the death of farmers!" Domestic farmers' representatives are not the only ones to say a clear no to this.
Petition for a total ban
The FPÖ with regional party chairman Erwin Angerer even wants to go one step further. "Action must finally be taken here! We simply don't want schnitzel from the 3D printer!" rages Angerer. He wants to start a petition for a total ban. "With the support of the population, we will use this petition to put even more pressure on the state and federal level as well as the EU!", says the Upper Carinthian local politician, hoping for a tailwind.
Angerer continues: "Lab-grown meat endangers the existence of our regional producers and destroys rural regions. Instead, large international corporations will pocket billions in profits. This meat has absolutely nothing to do with the natural product! It is also about our health!" warns the liberal politician.
