Police officers honored
Always on duty for the safety of Styrians
Every day, they put their heart and soul into making our country safer. Eight Styrian police officers have now been presented with the "Schöckl Award" as a token of gratitude.
Around 4400 officers ensure our security in Styria every day. Eight of them have now been honored for their outstanding achievements in various categories. Among them are Romana Revoul and Lisa-Marie Scheikl.
"We can fight crime with prevention"
Romana Revoul was honored in the "Prevention and Together.safely" category. She has dedicated her career in the police force to a very specific motto: "We can fight crime with prevention."
"I am a mom. Like most children, my child was confronted with the internet and its risks and challenges." This motivated her to complete the training in this area. To show everyone, young and old alike, where dangers can lurk and how to counter them. "Under 18" is the name of the prevention project with which she became known in the Murtal district. Since she started running it, she has been a welcome and regular guest at secondary schools, educating pupils about the legal system, violence, cybercrime and the right way to use the internet, and is also active in the children's police force. At the children's and youth rehabilitation clinic, she works with young patients, talking to them as equals and building trust with them.
I like it when I have a gut feeling and this is confirmed in the investigations.
Polizistin Lisa-Marie Scheikl
"Newcomer of the Year" Lisa-Marie Scheikl was only decommissioned in August 2021 and is now solving tricky cases at the criminal investigation department in Bruck/M. It is thanks to her that the major fire at the Rösselmühle in Graz was solved. "When it caught fire, I was out running in Graz and of course noticed it," says the passionate triathlete. The actual task was to solve an arson in a school in Bruck an der Mur. To do this, she plowed through eleven gigabytes of data and came across a picture that immediately made her realize that the suspicious boy whose cell phone she was searching through had something to do with the fire at the Rösselmühle! She passed the information on to her colleagues in Graz, who were able to solve the case completely thanks to her.
"I like it when I have a gut feeling and it's confirmed in the investigation. I'm simply interested in people's life stories," says the Styrian, bursting with energy. She doesn't yet know what the future holds. One thing is certain: "I want to investigate!"
