An UNRWA aid distribution center in the city of Rafah is said to have been attacked by Israeli soldiers - the Hamas-controlled health authority in the Gaza Strip reported that five people were killed. At least one of the organization's employees is said to be among them.

Food and relief supplies were distributed to the suffering population in the warehouse. One employee was killed and 22 others were injured.

"Today's attack on one of the very few remaining distribution centers comes as food supplies are running low, hunger is widespread and has become a famine in some areas," said UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini, expressing horror at the incident.

Lazzarini explained that the coordinates of the facilities in the Gaza Strip would be communicated to both warring parties on a daily basis. Israel had received the data of the attacked center on Tuesday. He appealed to protect United Nations staff and facilities in the conflict and called for an investigation into violations.

The Palestinian Relief Organization and its head published a statement on Platform X after the incident:

An Israeli army spokesperson stated that they would investigate the reports. According to the Hamas health authority, more than 31,000 people have been killed and more than 73,000 others injured in the Gaza Strip in the last five months. Two thirds of these are said to be women and minors - but these figures cannot be independently verified.

This video is supposed to show how injured people are taken away after the attack:

Israel wants to "flood Gaza with humanitarian aid"
Israel also announced more humanitarian aid. We are trying to flood the area with humanitarian aid," military spokesman Daniel Hagari told foreign journalists. Six aid convoys from the World Food Organization had reached the north of the area via the security fence known as the 96th Gate.

Hagari promised that more of these convoys would follow. These would be supplemented by airdrops and aid deliveries by sea. However, the delivery of aid is only part of the problem - fair and efficient distribution to the people in need is also difficult.
