In August 2021, Christina Applegate made her MS diagnosis public. In a recent interview, she admitted: "I'm going through hell." The terrible health update is not only hard on the 52-year-old, but also means some changes for her daughter. Due to the illness, the actress is severely restricted in her everyday life and can no longer be the mother she would like to be for her daughter Sadie.

Since Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she is not the only one who has had to get used to a new everyday life full of restrictions: In an interview with "People" magazine, the actress also drew attention to how much her role as a mother has changed for her daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble.

The 13-year-old girl regularly accompanies Christina to the selected events that Applegate has attended since her diagnosis, publicly supporting the 52-year-old.

"Sadie had to experience the loss of her mother"
Applegate could no longer be the mother she wanted to be for Sadie. In a way, her daughter "had to experience the loss of her mother". The actress recalled the things that were commonplace before her multiple sclerosis - and are no longer possible.

"Dancing with her every day. I picked her up from school every day. Working at her school, working in the library. Being present outside the house, outside my bed" - these seemingly small things demand a lot from Applegate today.

"It breaks me"
The disease MS has not only changed her life forever, "it's a loss for Sadie too", Applegate admitted openly, "and we're both learning as we go". There are moments when her MS symptoms are so painful that she can't be there for Sadie.

"She comes into the room and when she sees me lying on my side, she knows she can't ask me for anything," the 52-year-old sadly admitted. "And that breaks my heart. Because I love doing things for my child. I love cooking her food. I love bringing it to her. I love all of that, and sometimes I just can't."

Applegate is "heartbroken"
Christina Applegate and her good friend Jamie-Lynn Siegler run the podcast "MeSsy" together. Siegler was also diagnosed with MS more than two decades ago. In an interview with her, Applegate admitted what she finds most difficult about the disease.

"It's forever. It's heartbreaking when you have to say to your child: 'I can't.' It's the worst feeling in the world for a mother. You are their protector in life. And when you have to say: 'I can't', it tears your soul apart. I freak out about it every day."
