There's an old saying that those who do the damage don't have to worry about the ridicule. But the fact that even a "work colleague" makes fun of you is particularly mean. The Dutch King Willem-Alexander couldn't resist a joke about Kate's Photoshop fail.

When the monarch met a group of children on Wednesday, a little girl told him that she had a photo of his whole family.

In response, the 56-year-old joked: "Really? In any case, I didn't photoshop it!" Ouch! A clear dig at Princess Kate's edited family photo from Mother's Day.

You can find the video with Willem-Alexander's joke in the tweet embedded here - even if you don't speak Dutch, you can clearly understand the word Photoshop:

Post-processed idyll
The Princess of Wales gave news agencies a photo of herself with her three children on Mother's Day to show that she was in good spirits after her serious abdominal operation in January. It soon became clear that there was something wrong with the idyllic photo and that it had been edited.

The changes led to several photo agencies withdrawing the picture.

Princess apologizes
Questions surrounding the image grew so large that Kate took the rare step of issuing a public apology, sharing on X: "Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday. I hope everyone who celebrated Mother's Day had a very nice day. C." The signature "C" means that Kate wrote the message herself.

The controversy surrounding the photo did not end there, however, but has now gone so far that the news channel CNN has announced that it will no longer trust any photos from Kensington Palace and will now check all of them for authenticity.

Fake hint on Instagram
Princess Kate and Prince William had also published the photo on their social media accounts on X and Instagram.

Instagram has since added a red fake notice to the image. Instagram has now added a fake notice to the photo of Kate.

"According to independent fact checkers, the photo or image could be misleading because it has been edited, but not because it is shown out of context," the warning explains.
