Grandma still missing
Ukrainian woman killed: Missing baby has turned up
In Germany, a baby just a few weeks old went missing after a 27-year-old Ukrainian woman was killed - now the girl has been found alive and well. A woman and her husband, aged 43 and 44, who had the baby in their care, are suspected of murder.
Last week, the body of the Ukrainian woman was discovered by a passer-by on a footpath on the banks of the Rhine in Hockenheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The woman had been living with her daughter and mother in refugee accommodation. After the body was found, however, there was no trace of the infant and her 51-year-old grandmother. The police asked the public for help.
Investigators drew attention to the case on the short message platform X:
As the investigators announced on Friday, the baby girl turned up at the home of the now arrested duo - they are suspected of having killed the mother. The five-week-old baby was taken to hospital as a precaution and then handed over to the youth welfare office.
51-year-old is still missing
The two men are now suspected of having killed the Ukrainian woman. They were brought before a magistrate on Thursday and taken to prison. The 51-year-old mother of the victim is still missing.
