Spectacular swings, rock-hard kicks, powerful (choke) holds in the ground fight - the first two fights of the Cage Fight Series had everything the prestigious martial arts event stands for!

While the Viennese featherweight Abdurrohman Baziev already clutched the Ukrainian Aleks Kuzmytskyi in the first round with a body triangle and forced him to tap out, Robin Engelhart went the full distance against Saeid Najafian (Ung). In the end, the bantamweight from Grazer Sportclub Zitadelle prevailed on points thanks to a clear win in the final round.

Upper hand in the women's duel
His club colleague, Bernadette Marsano, took the only women's fight of the evening. She had strong competition in the form of Hungarian Nora Nagy, but the national champion retained the upper hand - her fourth victory in her eighth MMA fight!

Then there was Amore. In the truest sense of the word. Firstly, because Gianni de Amore (D) stepped into the Octagon. Then because his opponent Anas Hamdaoui chose Dean Martin's "That's Amore" of all things as his entrance music. A lovely touch. But the love was over as soon as the starting bell sounded, with three liver kicks putting the German to the sword. In the end, the 25-year-old Hamdaoui from the Champions Gym of promoters Gerhard and Michael Ettl celebrated his 14th triumph in his 25th fight.

Quick knockout for the "Blitz"
And after Sebastian Tomaschitz celebrated a high-kick knockout victory against Daniele de Luca, there was the long-awaited comeback: Karl Painer returned to the cage after an eleven-year break at the age of 61 (!). More than 20 years older than Sladjan Dobras (Bos) were clearly visible. The veteran, who is known as "The Flash" because of a former Blitz debut victory, took a "left" early on and lost due to balance problems. "I'm sorry for all the fans who came to see me," apologized Painer. "But I'm still young, I can attack in the next Cage Fight Series!"

Conversely, veteran Harry Fischer (53) did not give his 28-year-old opponent Ivan Krajinovic the slightest chance. After just 25 seconds, he had the Spaniard "on the ropes" from behind, forcing him to give up with strikes to the head. "I'm happy as a clam," beamed Fischer.

Two international fights promise brutally good cage action, the Peruvian Renzo Mendez already has his sights set on his 20th anniversary victory against Pavan Sahota (Gb), the Georgian Beka Ghachava wants to keep the "clean slate" in his third appearance against Andrian Murug (Ita).

Daniel Schordje, who is aiming for his fourth win in as many professional fights, also wants to do the same. The fighter from Wr. Neustadt should have achieved this last November, but his opponent Vito Spic (Croatia) was injured shortly before the fight was due to take place. This time, fists should fly.
