Six injured

Car skidded and hit oncoming traffic

Several people were injured, some of them seriously, in a traffic accident involving three cars in Pinsdorf on Sunday night. A 36-year-old lost control of his car in the rain and skidded into oncoming traffic. All six people involved were injured.

A 36-year-old from Attnang-Puchheim was driving his car together with his 32-year-old brother (from Vöcklabruck) on the B145 in the municipality of Pinsdorf towards Regau at around 10.35 p.m. on Saturday. At the same time, a 59-year-old man from Geresdorf (district of Sankt Pölten-Land) was driving in the opposite direction with his 58-year-old wife. Directly behind them, an 18-year-old woman from Bad Goisern was driving her car in the direction of Gmunden. A 20-year-old friend was also in the vehicle with her.

Rear tire torn off the axle
For reasons as yet unknown, the 36-year-old's car skidded, causing his car to veer into the oncoming lane at high speed and crash into the 59-year-old's approaching car. Due to the force of the impact, the 36-year-old's right rear tire was torn off the axle, after which the car crashed into a guard rail and a traffic sign.

Alcohol tests were all negative
The 18-year-old was unable to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the 59-year-old's car. All occupants were injured, some seriously, and were taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck after first aid. The Pinsdorf and Wiesen fire departments were deployed with six vehicles and 30 men. The B145 was completely closed in the area of the accident for around two hours. Alcohol tests carried out on all drivers were negative.
