Serious head-on crash required emergency services

Horror accident scenario on the B36 near Ysper in the district of Melk yesterday, Saturday evening: a station wagon crashed head-on into a pickup truck. The vehicles were badly demolished - yet both drivers escaped with their lives. Seven people were injured in a second accident at the A22 Stockerau junction - and three rescue helicopters were deployed.

Due to the force of the collision, the quickly arriving fire departments had their hands full using hydraulic equipment to free the occupants from the vehicles. At the scene of the accident, a large contingent of emergency services was busy rescuing the drivers, and a rescue helicopter was also on the scene.

After the rescue and initial treatment, it was decided not to load the two casualties into the helicopter, but to take them to Amstetten Hospital in the emergency ambulance.

Seven injured in another accident on the A22
Another traffic accident occurred at the Stockerau junction on the A22, as also reported by ORF. Among the victims, four people were seriously injured, including a child in one of the vehicles.

Three rescue helicopters were deployed here: two injured people were flown to hospitals in Vienna, one person to St. Pölten Hospital.
