At least they had jacked up the car: a man from Linz (43) was amazed when he discovered that crooks had removed and stolen all four of his winter tires including new alloy rims. He posted a notice warning other tenants about the cheeky thieves and is hoping for information about the perpetrators.

"There has been a serious security incident in our residential complex. In the night from Friday to Saturday, car tires with aluminum rims were removed and stolen from our parking lot in front of the entrance door," Christian A. (43) warns his fellow tenants in a block of flats in Linz's Reuchlinstraße via a notice.

Wife was the first to discover the coup
The shift worker told "Krone": "I came home from the sauna at 9 pm on Friday, everything was still fine. On Saturday, I drove to the company at 5 a.m. with colleagues in a car pool for the twelve-hour shift, so I didn't notice anything. It wasn't until 4 p.m. that my wife noticed something was wrong. She called me and asked what I was doing to the car," said the victim.

The damage amounts to around 600 euros
In fact, he was innocent, because strangers had tampered with the parked Ford Focus, jacked up the car with two old tires and four bricks and removed all four winter tires including new alloy rims. Christian A. estimates the damage at around 600 euros.

I would never have believed that something like this could happen to me. After all, the car was parked right outside my front door. I hope that one of the neighbors had a surveillance camera running, maybe he filmed the perpetrators and didn't even notice. Someone else might have seen something, please contact the property management or the police directly.

"Otherwise they might steal my brakes"
In the meantime, Christian A. has fitted new tires - "otherwise they might steal my brakes too", he himself has to smile about the theft like in an old Kottan thriller.

Maybe it was construction workers
But who could the crooks have been? Christian A. suspects that workers from a nearby construction site may have been making long fingers: "Either the perpetrators were having a bad day - or it was a targeted theft."
