New trendy bar
Master Adebar and the Barbie from Burgenland
Agnes Goebel, the ex-wife of radio presenter Alexander Goebel, became famous as the TV "do-it-yourself queen". Now the Mörbisch resident-by-choice has opened a cool café-wine shop in her community. She has also found happiness in her private life.
Pink is not only the trademark of Barbie, but also the distinguishing feature of Agnes Goebel (56). So it's clear why the 1.82-metre tall woman from Mörbisch with her model measurements and long, snow-white-black hair always drives around in a pink van with a glittery look.
Shirt-sleeved chick
But unlike Barbie, Goebel also stands her ground. She already proved this as the "DIY queen" in the ORF early evening show "Studio 2", when she was a shirt-sleeved chick in pink dungarees who knew how to use a hammer, drill and chisel, earning the respect of all those who only trust men with such tasks.
Lonely in Styria
After the show ended, Goebel remained true to her passion for crafts and commuted from her former home in the Hartberg district to various craft exhibitions. But when this became too strenuous for her and she became lonely in Styria during the coronavirus pandemic, she settled in Mörbisch, where her daughter Stephanie (31) also lives - she is the singer in the well-known band "Cari Cari".
The woman is herself
"I always wanted to become a Burgenlander and spend my retirement here. When I really settled down at Lake Neusiedl two years ago, it was clear that I would get involved in the community and create a job for myself," says the graduate publicist, who has also organized pageants and managed her second ex-husband Alexander Goebel.
So she started looking for a suitable business premises and actually found what she was looking for in an empty wine tavern restaurant. She recently opened her café-vinotheque "Zum bunten Storch" here: "I made all the vintage furniture myself. I also painted the pictures myself."
From Thursday to Sunday, Goebel serves breakfast, brunch, pastries, cold delicacies, coffee and wine. She is supported by her partner Tom Szwadasch, who is six years her junior.
Just like in a fairy tale
The trained carpenter from Korneuburg is also soon to become husband number three: "We met on a building site when I was fitting out a bridal fashion studio for a friend. He was just my teacher for six months, but then it turned into love. Last year, he proposed to me in front of 700 people at a bridal fashion show when I was floating down the catwalk in a white dress."
