Necessity is the mother of invention
Stripfing’s exciting step through the back door
Six defeats in a row, a goal difference of 1:19, only ten points above the bottom ten rounds before the end - Stripfing are marching through the 2nd division in reverse gear. "We'll get back on track when the personnel situation improves," said sporting director Alex Grünwald with conviction. "They don't want more, would rather play lower down again," others believe they know. And they are obviously wrong. Because the brave Stripfingers submitted a license application on 4 March. Not an ordinary one, but an exciting one. The "Krone" knows the details:
After the playing year on the FAC pitch, Stripfing would have to return to home turf from the summer or move into a stadium suitable for the league within a 20 km radius. The latter is not an option, with the renovation of the home ground set to begin this week (far too late). In the knowledge that it will not be finished by the start of the season.
...Necessity is the mother of invention. So patron Erich Kirisits tried to stay in the league by taking a step through the back door and applied to the Gänserndorf district authority to relocate SV Stripfing to Deutsch Wagram. 20 kilometers to the west - and according to their own calculations, 19.2 kilometers as the crow flies from the Generali Arena. The stadium of cooperation partner Austria, which was therefore named as the home ground for the new season in the license application.
Senate 5 on the move
Ingenious or - in a double sense - presumptuous? The league's Senate 5 will decide by April 12. There is no comment from Stripfing, not even from Father Christoph Pelczar, the chairman. Instructions from above. However, they want to return to their own sports ground as soon as possible. The members will certainly hear this at the explosive general meeting on Thursday...
