Great desire to travel
Styrians are drawn to the south at Easter
The wanderlust is great - many Styrians use Holy Week for a short trip to warm climes. At the same time, the trend in domestic tourism is towards short-term bookings due to the unpredictable weather. But which destinations win the travel rankings at Easter?
With just a week left of school, the Easter vacations are just around the corner. In addition to the anticipation of an Easter snack with the family and a few days of relaxation, more and more people are using this time for a short vacation. This year, the longing for summer temperatures and a change of location is prompting many Styrians in particular to book a ticket to the south.
Max Schlögl, Managing Director of Gruber Reisen, knows which destinations are particularly popular with Styrians at Easter: "Now the majority of our customers are looking forward to a vacation abroad. Most of them have booked a trip to the south." Italy, Croatia, Spain and Malta are very popular. Many are also taking off for the Maldives, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
Italy, Croatia, Spain and Malta are currently very popular. The Maldives are still extremely popular.

A booking outlook for the summer shows that the classic destinations are once again very popular this year. In the last four weeks, the most bookings for the summer months were made to Greece, followed by Italy, Croatia and Spain.
Trend towards spontaneity
According to Michael Feiertag, Managing Director of Styria Tourism, the booking situation in local hotels around the Easter holidays is just as good, albeit with regional variations.
Styria is currently divided into two parts in terms of tourism. In the north, people are hoping for well-filled pistes for the last time in the season at Easter. In the south, you can spend relaxing days in the local wellness hotels or take advantage of the spring-like temperatures for active vacations by bike or in the vineyards.
Only time will tell whether we can look forward to the same spring-like temperatures in two weeks' time at Easter. Uncertainty about the weather is causing many Styrians to decide and book just before their planned vacation. "In general, the trend towards last-minute bookings continues to increase, with the weather playing a key role," says Feiertag.
