Ralf Schumacher has suggested that Red Bull team boss Christian Horner should step down. According to the former Formula 1 driver, the Briton's departure would not harm anyone. He lacks transparency in the matter. However, the German is annoyed that the 50-year-old is presenting himself as a victim.

"Everything should be clarified as quickly as possible. It wouldn't hurt anyone if he left. It would be important for the Red Bull brand," Schumacher told "Sport 1". The former Formula 1 professional is once again clearly recommending that the Briton step down.

The German criticizes that the whole matter still lacks transparency. This makes an objective assessment difficult. However, the team boss's statements in Saudi Arabia, when he portrayed himself as a victim, were problematic: "I'm sorry for his family, yes, but there was only one person who triggered the whole thing: him." According to Schumacher, the fact that Horner and his personal assistant had become close can no longer be denied.

He could become a problem for Horner
The 48-year-old cannot accept this approach, even though he understands that Horner does not want to talk about the matter in public: "It is difficult when such a private matter is carried out in public. But there comes a time when you have to talk about it, because in the end it's best for all parties."

Schumacher takes a positive view of the fact that world champion Max Verstappen has intervened and publicly declared his support for Helmut Marko: "It should be a matter of course for a driver to have a clear opinion. Max has not forgotten who sponsored him and who has always supported him. That was Helmut Marko, not Christian Horner."

The German also sees major problems for Horner in another personnel matter: "He also knows that there is a great risk that technical genius Adrian Newey will soon no longer be in the mood because of all the squabbles. He is the one Red Bull can least do without."
