Because the water became too expensive for the property management company, Ingrid Pfeiffer from Vienna-Ottakring was told to stop watering immediately. The flowerbed in her apartment building was threatened with eviction. After a stage victory, the sprightly 83-year-old now wants to fight on.
The "Krone" report that an 83-year-old pensioner was suddenly no longer allowed to water her plants in the courtyard made big waves. Resident Ingrid Pfeiffer has turned the gray area in her apartment complex in the 16th district into a green idyll. Now she can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being. The property management has reacted and given in cautiously.
Eviction has been suspended for the time being
"We will be happy to get in touch with the residents for the last time in order to find an acceptable way of using the green space for the building community," says Sozialbau AG. The eviction scheduled for Monday has been suspended. A first stage victory for the sprightly senior citizen.
The property management company emphasizes that efforts had been made for months to find a solution with the residents concerned regarding the excessive use of the green areas, as the garden area could not be used appropriately by the other residents and they were prevented from using it.
Area not used appropriately
Ingrid Pfeiffer disputes this and wants to fight on. Because all the residents of the house enjoy the small garden. For the pensioner, the excitement over the last few days has been a bit much, she says. "I'm happy that our little patch of green can stay for the time being," says Grandma Ingrid. Especially now that it's slowly getting warmer outside again.
