In the saddle for Lower Austria
Vacation: A province gets on its bike
More than 13,000 kilometers of cycle routes invite you: The 2024 cycling season is open! This year, skiing legend Felix Neureuther is set to attract even more guests to Lower Austria.
Lower Austria has the best conditions in terms of landscape, culture, cuisine and infrastructure to take advantage of the cycling trend for tourism. German skiing legend Felix Neureuther is now in the saddle to make these advantages of the vast country appealing to tourists. As a brand ambassador, he is to bring even more guests from the target market of Germany as well as from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary to Lower Austria. A new quality brand, "Radpartner Niederösterreich", is also intended to make it easier for potential guests to find bike-friendly hosts in future.
Why all this? Because cycling is in vogue. "Cycling is an important vacation motive for every second foreign guest in summer," explains Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria. And Lower Austria promoter Michael Duscher adds: "In the mountains, along rivers or on trails in the bike park, Lower Austria is made for cycling."

And Neureuther? "I see my role as a role model, especially for the younger generation. Lower Austria has a variety of routes to offer for a bike ride with the whole family, for leisure cyclists as well as for athletes," says Neureuther.
Cycling in Lower Austria
Lower Austria has over 1500 kilometers of top cycling routes with high certified quality, 4000 kilometers of excursion cycling routes with a high tourist experience factor, 6000 kilometers of mountain bike and mountain bike trekking routes and 2000 kilometers of gravel bike routes.
Four videos were produced for the new cycling campaign, showing cycling in combination with culture, nature, enjoyment and culinary delights. The videos were filmed on the Ybbstal Cycle Path, at Lake Lunz, at the Orth organic farm in Göstling an der Ybbs, at the restaurant in Hadersdorf, on the cycle paths around Wagram and in the Wolkenturm in Grafenegg Castle Park.
