Someone was snooping around in Kate’s medical records
It is currently the British monarchy's best-kept secret: the reason for Princess Kate's abdominal operation in mid-January. It has now been revealed that someone has been snooping around in the clinic's system without permission and has gained access to the medical records of the wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince William.
According to reports, an investigation has been launched at the London Clinic because staff allegedly tried to access the private medical records of the Princess of Wales.
At least one member of staff tried to access notes about Kate that were made when she was a patient at the private clinic in central London in January, reports the Mirror.
"Deeply shocked"
"All the medical staff are deeply shocked and distressed by the allegations and were very hurt that a trusted colleague should have been responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics," an insider told the newspaper.
The London Clinic said: "We firmly believe that all our patients, regardless of their status, deserve absolute privacy and confidentiality in relation to their medical information." Kensington Palace has been informed.
According to the British news agency PA, the UK Data Protection Commissioner said: "We can confirm that we have received a report of a data breach."
No cancer
The princess was admitted to hospital in January for abdominal surgery. Details of Kate's condition have not been released.
Kensington Palace only stated that it was not cancer and that Kate would not return to public appointments until after Easter. Her absence had recently caused much speculation.
