Haudum wants to say goodbye to the KAC with a trophy
A 1-0 lead is almost all you need in these ice hockey play-offs - it worked out again for the KAC against Pustertal on Tuesday. Haudum is happy about Herburger's return and is the Red Jackets' top scorer in the play-offs so far.
A 1-0 lead is always an advantage in ice hockey. But rarely has it been such a guarantee for victory as in this year's play-offs. Because in 22 games so far, the team that has been able to take a 1-0 lead has won 20 (!) times. This was the case for the KAC in all seven matches. Good thing they have Lukas Haudum! Because the striker even put the Red Jackets 2-0 ahead in the semi-final opener in the first period against Pustertal - in a wonderful co-production with Raphael Herburger.
Praise for goalie Dahm
Which did put a dent in the visitors' hopes. "They started strongly and had good chances. But Sebastian Dahm once again had a good day in goal," said Haudum. "We then pulled away in the second period and played the game dry."
Blind understanding
With two goals and seven assists, the 26-year-old is the KAC's top scorer in the play-offs so far and is delighted that Herburger is back in the line-up after his injury: "We understand each other blindly, it's just fun. And Niki Kraus, a fighter with a good forecheck, also fits in really well with us."
Farewell tour in red
It's a farewell tour in the red jersey for Haudum. Graz have already officially announced that the variable striker will be moving there. "I also felt comfortable in Klagenfurt, but the offer was simply good. But now I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we finish the season successfully. Even though there are still tough tasks ahead, I would really like to say goodbye with a championship title."
One-match ban for Stanton
On Friday, it's a day trip to the Puster Valley - where the 2:0 in the series is also expected. For the South Tyroleans, defenseman Stanton was suspended for one game for his elbow check against Strong.
