Eiza Gonzalez: “I’m far too hot for many roles”

"She has the acting talent of a rubber tree". Some things are better said by others - otherwise it's a hail of ridicule and malice. Eiza Gonzalez (34) is the best example of this. She was criticized on social media for one particular statement.

While she is a star in her home country of Mexico, she has never made her big breakthrough in Hollywood and has not made it beyond supporting roles (she can currently be seen in "Mr & Mrs Smith").

The 34-year-old now has an explanation for this in an interview with "InStyle": "I've been told in so many film projects that I'm too beautiful for the role - just too hot!"

In her opinion, Latinas are treated differently.

"Latinas are treated differently"
Gonzalez can't understand why the same thing doesn't happen to Margot Robbie: "She's the hottest, most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life. I think Latinas are just treated differently. That's why I wanted to shave my hair off to increase my chances!"

Gonzalez receives a hail of criticism
The comments on Twitter were scathingly negative against Gonzalez and her alleged lack of talent in front of the camera. One wrote: "The reason Robbie or other beautiful women like Scarlett Johansson have a world career and you don't is because they can act!"

Another scoffed: "You're not as stunningly attractive as you make yourself out to be - and if anything, it's thanks to your plastic surgeon!" And a third tied a bow around it: "Don't cry about it. You've probably been offered a few roles just because of your look - and then you didn't get the roles because you didn't audition well enough!"

Eiza Gonzalez herself later justified herself on Twitter: "I've made an observation about what a Latina stereotype has been for years in our industry and it's slowly being dismantled and words like 'hot' are being attached to a woman to define her as if that's the only quality that defines her. It's sad that words are being taken from an interview and put into a completely different context."
