At 230 km/h in a BMW
First car of extreme racer confiscated in Upper Austria
Now it has happened: A BMW 530i was the first car of a speeding driver in Upper Austria to be confiscated under the new law on Wednesday evening. A 36-year-old man had been speeding along the Westautobahn at around 230 km/h. His last journey with his car, for the time being, ended at the rest area in Allhaming.
Wednesday evening at around 9.15 p.m.: A 36-year-old Serbian from Switzerland overtook a police patrol in his white BMW 530i on the Westautobahn in Upper Austria - who immediately called for assistance by radio due to the high speed.
The highway patrol pulled out the laser meter and determined that the BMW was traveling at 230 km/h - 223 minus the measurement tolerance.
Who owns the car?
The speeding driver was finally stopped at the Allhaming rest area. The 36-year-old is the first person to lose his vehicle under the new law in Upper Austria due to his extreme speeding - the police confiscated his white BMW. He was also banned from driving for six months.
The vehicle was towed away by order of the authorities. Now the district authority has to establish who owns the car. This will determine what happens next with the BMW.
