Brazil’s president publishes jogging video

Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva got himself into the conversation with a jogging video.

According to a new poll, Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva only has an approval rating of 35%. However, the 78-year-old has now made a positive impression with a jogging video. By Friday, the clip had been viewed more than 10.3 million times.

This is the largest audience Lula has had on Instagram since the beginning of the year, Brazilian media reported. The politician posts several posts a day on the platform. In his video, Lula can be seen in a sleeveless sports shirt and shorts. He jogs around the elegant Alvorada Palace, his residence, chatting away. He looks focused, keeps looking down, a smile never crosses his face.

He invites "all of you who want to live healthily, to enjoy your life a little more, to reach the age of 120, as I intend to do", said the president. People in Brazil should "move their legs and arms and even walk a bit if they have the physical strength to do so."

Role model for other ministers
By Friday, the video had received almost one million likes and been viewed a total of around 10.3 million times. According to a survey by the Datafolha Institute, which was published on Thursday, Lula's approval rating has fallen to 35%. In December, it was still 38 percent. At the same time, dissatisfaction with his government rose in the same period (from 30 to 33 percent).

Other ministers have now taken the success of the jogging video as an example and published similar posts. The Brazilian president had previously called for better communication and more results from his colleagues.
