"No confidence!"
After triumph: Gut-Behrami settles accounts with ex-coach
Lara Gut-Behrami secured the fifth super-G globe of her career at the World Cup final in Saalbach-Hinterglemm on Friday and the third crystal this year after winning the overall World Cup and the giant slalom. However, the Swiss athlete apparently still wanted to publicly comment on the scandal with her fitness coach at the end - and not too briefly.
"Working together requires mutual trust and loyalty. If this basis is no longer there, you have to part ways," Gut-Behrami explains in Blick. The Swiss woman is disappointed. On Wednesday, she parted ways with successful coach Alejo Hervas after hearing that he was apparently planning to switch to the Swiss men.
"I focused on the races last weekend. After all, it was about the crystal globes. Afterwards, I found out that he had already made arrangements behind the scenes," says Gut-Behrami. The 32-year-old then confronted the Spaniard in Saalbach - and then sent him home immediately after his confirmation, angry and disappointed. After all, he had claimed at the beginning of the season that he would accompany Lara until the end of her career.
"Not the end of the world"
Gut-Behrami: "He said publicly that he would continue until the end. And repeatedly emphasized to me how proud he was of our work. And then, without telling me anything, made other arrangements!" Now the crystal collector is looking for a new coach. It remains to be seen who that will be. However, Lara is certain that the separation is "not the end of the world." But still very annoying ...
