The "Krone" Footballer of the Year is Lisa-Marie Zmek for the fifth time. Her dad was her biggest fan. The former Landhaus player wins ahead of Valentina Mädl from St. Pölten and Katharina Mayr from LASK.

"This is definitely my last win," laughed Lisa-Marie Zmek as the "Krone" presented her with the trophy for the female footballer of the year. The trophy is not new territory for her - the 28-year-old was a serial winner, having already won in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. "Nevertheless, it always remains something very special for me."

Lisa-Marie Zmek still played for Landhaus in 2023.

This year is indeed special, because it really will be her last title. Zmek ended her career at USC Landhaus last summer. "Cartilage damage forced me to retire," she reports. "But the trophy is of course an ideal end-of-career present."

Relegation as a goal
However, she will stay involved in soccer. She moved to Salzburg in 2023 for love and work and started as sports director at Bundesliga club FC Bergheim. "I actually wanted to move here as a player. But now I'm also really enjoying my new role, luckily this position was just available."

With her new club, Zmek is aiming to stay in the Bundesliga. To this end, they brought in coach Alexander Schriebl in the winter, who has already coached SV Horn's second division men, among others. "I'm sure we'll stay up," she is convinced.

Many ballots filled out
At the end of the interview, the "Krone" wants to know who voted so diligently for her in the footballer poll. "My biggest fan is my dad. He often sits up all night filling in ballot papers." She is generally very grateful to her father: "He dragged me onto the soccer pitch as a child. Without him, I might not be here today."
