Many wishes for recovery
After cancer diagnosis: family offers Kate support
After many - sometimes absurd - rumors, Princess Kate (42) has now openly admitted in a video message: "I have cancer!" However, she also made it clear that she only found out after her abdominal operation. Family members - including Charles, Meghan and Harry - and many heads of state wished Kate a speedy and full recovery.
Princess Kate received a lot of encouragement after announcing her cancer diagnosis. She had addressed the public in a video message after weeks of speculation about her state of health.
Princess receives preventive chemotherapy
The mother of three had undergone abdominal surgery in mid-January and has not appeared in public since. Tests after the operation revealed that she had cancer, she said in the video on Friday evening (see below). On the advice of her medical team, she is now receiving preventative chemotherapy.

Following Harry and Meghan, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, France's President Macron, the US government and Canada's head of government Trudeau also spoke out.
"Kate belongs to the love of a whole nation"
For the UK's Prime Minister, the 42-year-old has shown enormous courage with her statement. "I know I speak for the whole country in wishing her a speedy and full recovery, and I look forward to seeing her back in action when she is ready," Sunak said on Friday evening. She has "the love and support of an entire nation".

French President Emmanuel Macron also sent a message on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on behalf of his wife Brigitte: "Your Highness, in this difficult time you are going through, Brigitte and I wish you a full recovery. Your strength and resilience inspire us all."
Canada's head of government Justin Trudeau also sent get-well wishes (see below).
"Respect privacy!"
The US government also expressed its condolences. Kate, her family and friends are in their thoughts, said spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre in Washington on Friday. "And of course we wish her a full recovery." It is now particularly important to respect her privacy.
Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will also climb this one with you.
Kates Bruder James Middleton
Kate's brother-in-law Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan also spoke out. "We wish Kate and the family health and healing and hope that they can do so privately and in peace," Harry and Meghan said in a statement.
Kate's brother, James Middleton, posted a child's photo on Instagram (see above): "Over the years we have climbed many mountains together. As a family we will climb this one with you too."
Charles is "so proud of Catherine for her courage"
King Charles praised the openness of his "beloved daughter-in-law" Kate. The monarch is "so proud of Catherine for her courage", he said in a statement.
