Where cats get back on their paws after accidents

Car accidents, serious injuries and then several weeks of inpatient rehab after the wounds have healed - it's not just us humans who do this. In Ohlsdorf, cats can also be nursed back to health. Trained social pedagogue Daniela Eglseder has converted a four-wheeler there.

At the beginning of the year, Eglseder opened the converted farm as the "Cats Care" cat center. The 46-year-old offers rehabilitation for velvet paws in collaboration with vets: "I do massages and exercise with the cats twice a day." During their stay, the animals have a total of six single rooms and a 100 square meter group room at their disposal."

At the Ohlsdorf Cat Center, house pets can also train or simply stay overnight.

"Animals don't judge"
"Many people now form bonds with animals more easily than with other people. Because animals don't judge us, no matter what we look like or what kind of job we do," says Eglseder, explaining the motivation behind her rather unusual job.

In addition to rehabilitation, four-legged friends can also train in Ohlsdorf: "For example, I teach a cat to sit in an assigned place until the command comes," says Eglseder. The purpose of the exercise is to teach the cats to resist impulses, such as those to chase other cats.

And finally, cats can also simply stay overnight in the old four-wheeler. The price: 26 euros per day for a single cat.

Of course, this cat boarding service is also available elsewhere in Upper Austria. Pet owners can leave their pets there temporarily if they go on vacation or have to go to hospital.
