Man goes berserk and beats up ex-girlfriend

A dramatic case of domestic and psychological violence is currently keeping criminologists busy in Burgenland. Within 14 hours, the police had to respond to five incidents because an obviously drunk man (40) in the Oberwart district terrorized his younger partner and hit his older ex-girlfriend hard with his fists. After his arrest, the accused was initially charged and threatened with imprisonment.

Too much alcohol may have been involved when the 40-year-old got into an argument with his partner in the evening. Fearing an assault, the distraught woman (34) put her angry partner outside the door and locked the apartment. Shortly afterwards, the expelled man turned up outside the house of his ex-girlfriend (52) and caused a commotion in the street. Officers notified by the regional control center intervened.

Drunken argument
As the tense situation had finally calmed down, the man from Burgenland was allowed to go home. But the alarm bells rang again that same night. The argument between the man and his partner, both drunk according to the report, flared up again. The woman felt threatened. This time, however, it remained a heated exchange of words and the suspected threat did not become violent. The second incident ended with a warning.

Police in constant action
But in the early hours of the morning, the 34-year-old woman called for help again. Her partner was looking for the next argument at around 4 a.m. and insulted her savagely. "You fat pig" was the more harmless form of insult, they said. The police have now issued an entry and approach ban. A temporary weapons ban was also imposed. Afterwards, the woman apparently had some peace and quiet from her husband, but only two and a half hours later, the accused's former partner contacted the police by emergency call.

The man became violent
The alcoholic "ex" besieged her home and refused to leave, was the worrying message. It was only when two officers arrived on the scene that the 40-year-old left the property without grumbling. But he soon returned and kicked the entrance gate in a rage. Suddenly the hooligan was standing in front of the surprised homeowner, shouting at her at the top of his voice. "Stupid pig, bitch, dirty pig," could be heard in the neighborhood.

Blows to the face
The thuggish 40-year-old then brutally punched his "ex" twice in the face with his fist. The victim suffered an injury to her upper lip. When the police officers alerted by the 52-year-old woman tried to calm the attacker down, he reacted wildly and insulted the officers. The perpetrator was taken away in handcuffs after the scandal. At the police station, he refused to take a breathalyzer test. "I haven't had anything to drink - and I haven't done anything," he claimed. He also refused to make any statements or sign the report. His final comment: "Go fuck yourself!"

Charge at large
The accused, who was later released with an upright ban on entering and approaching, got off with charges. However, the public prosecutor's office in Eisenstadt informed him that he could expect to be arrested if he continued to violate the law in this way.
