Spring can come: Rush on Josefimarkt
From Josefi-Supp'n to Stingelschießen, the 158th Josefimarkt in the market town of Eberndorf is steeped in tradition: the 158th market was officially opened on Saturday. Today, Sunday, the colorful hustle and bustle in the south continues. Over 100 vendors will be there.
The Josefimarkt in Eberndorf has been ringing in spring for 158 years. "For us, this is the most important economic stimulus. As a market trader, I know that if things go well here, they will stay that way all year round," says Mayor Wolfgang Stefitz. Thousands of visitors attended the colorful hustle and bustle on the very first day. "For us, it's a must to be here every year," says Nicole Rigelnik. Evelyn and Raphael Rupitz agree: "It's just lovely, the children love the market." There's sweets, balloons and, of course, refreshments from the hosts.
Satisfied market management
More than 100 vendors have come, offering everything from baskets and clothing to regional delicacies. "We are very happy, people feel comfortable," says Alois Schippel, deputy chairman of the agricultural community that organizes the market.



Josefisoup with secret ingredients
The Josefi soup, which was created in honor of St. Joseph, also has a long tradition. Tini Kos from Gasthof Partl: "The potato soup contains Jauntal salami and chanterelles from the Dobrowa region. The spices remain a secret, of course." Stingel shooting, where the stick heads a little flag, is also a tradition. "We've been doing this for 50 years," says Rene Edlinger.
