France wins
Germany v Netherlands – LIVE from 8.45pm
Germany have also won their second test match of the European Championship year. After beating France 2-0, the EURO hosts defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in Frankfurt on Tuesday, another of Austria's opponents in the European Championship group. Meanwhile, the French celebrated a 3:2 victory over Chile in Marseille.
The duel between the newly-formed team of German national coach Julian Nagelsmann and the "Oranje" team got off to a spectacular start. After strong preparatory work from Memphis Depay, Joey Veerman volleyed home to give the visitors the lead (4'). But the DFB team hit back immediately in the person of Maximilian Mittelstädt, who hammered the ball under the crossbar for his first goal in a DFB shirt in his second international match (11).
In the second half, the Dutch were initially the more dangerous team before a series of changes interrupted the flow of the game. The Germans then took command and scored the winner through substitute Niclas Füllkrug (85). The striker shouldered the ball into the goal, with goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen only just able to save from the line (85').
