The former home of the Sisters of Mary of Mount Carmel is now for sale - the properties of the religious community are currently being advertised in newspapers and on online platforms. Interested parties must be financially strong, as the price for the land and buildings is 12 million euros.

The religious community has been active in Linz since 1861, but last year - as reported - the last Sisters of Mary of Mount Carmel left the former headquarters in the center of Linz for Bad Mühllacken. At the big convent flea market in June, the inventory left behind was sold off for the benefit of the Uganda mission, along with small, handcrafted treasures.

2300 m² at Seilerstätte and Friedensplatz
And now the order's properties are also to be sold: The search is on for potential buyers for the buildings at Seilerstätte 5, 7 and 7a, as well as Friedensplatz 1 and 2, which were home to the main house of the Sisters of Mary, their church, the Josefsheim and the Eliashaus. The floor area is around 2300 square meters, the purchase price is 12 million euros. The Congregation of the Sisters of Mary of Mount Carmel is being represented by Saxinger Chalupsky & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH.

Two-stage tender
Christoph Luegmair explains in an interview with the "Krone": "Yes, it's true, we are handling the process for the Congregation of the Sisters of Mary of Mount Carmel. The sale is taking place as part of a two-stage tender. In the first stage of the sales process, suitable bidders are sought. In the second stage, negotiations will be held with the best-ranked bidders to determine the best offer. The bidding period ends on May 3."
