“Burp affair”: now the state council is getting involved!
It's a video that was never meant to go public, but nevertheless "accidentally" ended up on the web. What followed was a wave of outrage - among tourism professionals and politicians alike. Tyrol's tourism councillor Mario Gerber has now also intervened in the "burping affair", demanding full clarification.
An image video showing a burping family in the middle of the Tyrolean mountain idyll. "Tasteless; an unsuccessful attempt to be funny; such an image does not suit Tyrol" - these were just some of the comments from the industry. There was a general outcry after the video appeared online.
Tirol advertising boss: "It was an accident"
"Social media doesn't forgive anything", Karin Seiler stated a few days ago in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper. The Managing Director of Tirol Werbung had to explain herself for something that should never have seen the light of day. "By mistake" - as Seiler emphasizes - the clip appeared on Facebook for a short time as part of an isolated advertising test.

Tourism Councillor Mario Gerber is clearly not amused by the "oversight". The ÖVP politician demands that "the incident be clarified internally without delay." To this end, Gerber will instruct the managing director of Lebensraum Tirol Holding GmbH, Josef Margreiter, "to analyze the internal processes that led to the video being disseminated and to fully investigate the incident."
"This must not be put at risk"

"This must by no means be put at risk, also in the interests of the many local tourism businesses," emphasizes Gerber.
For him, it is clear that "this incident must be fully investigated so that such mistakes can be avoided in the future."
"One of many suggestions"
"The video was one of many suggestions made by the agency. However, we rejected it as unsuitable for us. This does not correspond to our values," stated Tirol Werbung boss Seiler. After the oversight became known, the test was stopped on the spot and the video was removed from all Tirol Werbung channels.
