Red numbers! Ski manufacturer cuts 150 employees

Skiing down to the valley is often no longer possible, but things are still going well at higher altitudes! While winter is still omnipresent in the ski regions, at least until Easter, sporting goods manufacturer and ski producer Fischer is already taking stock. Conclusion: the last financial year was in the red and 150 employees had to go.

When the plant in Mukachevo/Ukraine could only be used to a limited extent due to a major fire, Fischer Sports increased the number of staff at its headquarters in Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria) considerably in order to be able to meet orders from retailers.

In the meantime, there is no longer any sign of this high demand in the Innviertel region: despite the war, the plant in Ukraine is fully operational and can run with fewer employees than before thanks to modern facilities and a higher degree of automation. Nevertheless, there is now another cutback. Because: Fischer is cutting 150 employees.

Falling demand with consequences
20 employees in the Innviertel region will have to leave, while the remaining 130 will lose their jobs at the plant in Ukraine. The reason for this is the last financial year, in which many things did not run smoothly for the sporting goods and ski manufacturer because demand for skis fell significantly in some areas. The result: declining sales and a loss on the bottom line, which necessitated a cost-cutting course and therefore staff reductions.
