Jeep Easter Safari
For the rough stuff: four Jeeps make you want to go off-road
Every year at Easter, Jeep launches spectacular individual variants of its off-road vehicles. This year's quartet includes one with extra rubber.
From an off-road motorhome to a giant tire Wrangler: Jeep has built four concept vehicles for its traditional Easter outing in the Moab Desert of Utah. The one-offs will not go into series production, but are intended to promote the parts and accessories program of the group brand Mopar at the "Easter Safari".
With oversized 42-inch off-road tires (42x14.5 R 20), the Jeep Low Down Concept follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Lower 40, which was presented a decade and a half ago. Special carbon fenders were fitted and numerous body parts were adapted so that the massive tires fit without having to change the wheel suspension. Another eye-catching feature is a transparent power dome on the hood.
The Willys Dispatcher Concept pays homage to the early civilian Jeeps of the post-war era with its retro bodywork and cream-colored vintage steel rims. The interior features rustic saddle leather seats and fabric inserts with a houndstooth pattern. The drive, on the other hand, is decidedly modern and comes with plug-in hybrid technology.
The Gladiator Rubicon High Top Concept, based on the pick-up offshoot of the Wrangler, is designed for tough off-road use. Large tires, a V6 petrol engine and a loading area with lockable storage space round off the conversion. Inside, there are quilted leather seats in desert yellow and black.
The Vacationeer Concept, which is based on the new Wagoneer, is an adventure vehicle for long tours. As a reminiscence of its predecessors from the 1960s to the 1990s, the concept vehicle has a decorative strip with the look of grained wood on the mint green body. Underbody protection and a winch are intended to help on difficult off-road passages, while a "Skyloft" luxury tent is mounted on the roof, which can be accessed via a passageway in the vehicle's load compartment.
