Spears finds it hard to “understand English”
Britney Spears, 42, posted a lengthy recap of her recent beach vacation on Wednesday in which she claimed she had trouble understanding her native language - something that happened when she changed her name on social media.
"Since I changed my name to XILA, I'm actually having a hard time understanding English," the singer announced on Instagram.
New Instagram name makes people sit up and take notice
While Spears' Instagram name remains Britney Spears, the name on her account is Xila Maria River Red. She added "Xila" in front of her Instagram moniker in February without explanation. In July, Spears had changed her name on the social media site to Maria River Red - even then without giving a reason.
Some fans wondered if Spears could release music under the new name, but in January she dashed fans' hopes, claiming she would "never return to the music industry". Spears did, however, reveal that she enjoys working as a ghostwriter and writing songs for other artists.
Problems "too offensive to share"
Elsewhere in Wednesday's post, the 'Gimme More' singer, whose behavior on Instagram continues to worry fans following the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, also claimed she wanted to talk about her problems, but said they were "too offensive to share".
"Many other things have happened on this journey that I'm also not sharing," she wrote of her final days in the sun. "Sometimes nothing is as it seems!!! I claim everything is completely perfect, but trust me, I've been through it too and would share those struggles with you, but they are too offensive to share."
"It would make other people extremely sad and honestly there's nothing I can do about it at all," Spears concluded. "So just know that my life is not as perfect as it seems ... and remember my wonderful friends, you are not alone."
