"Fits the character"
Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht: Shitstorm for Judas role
Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht (32) slipped into the role of Jesus' betrayer Judas in "The Passion" on Wednesday. While many fans were thrilled, the actor and musician also had to put up with a lot of criticism from viewers.
Two years after RTL first staged "The Passion", the live musical spectacle about the suffering of Jesus Christ returned to television screens on March 27. Ben Blümel (42) as Jesus, Nadja Benaissa (42) as Mary and Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht as Judas acted out the Bible story live in Kassel - and the latter in particular had to put up with a lot of criticism from viewers afterwards.
"It fits like a glove"
Apart from the fact that "The Passion" was completely torn apart on X anyway, the 32-year-old also received a lot of ridicule for his performance.
The fact that he of all people took on the role of Judas after all the headlines about him, his family, ex-girlfriend Yeliz Koc and daughter Snow caused clear reactions: "He got the role that fits his character perfectly," mocked one user, for example. Others wrote: "It fits like a glove. The role of a lifetime", or: "How fitting."
"Falco is turning in his grave"
But Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht's singing skills, who performed Christina Stürmer's "Nie genug" or "Out of the Dark" by Falco, among others, were also heavily criticized: "Falco is turning over in his grave ...", wrote one user on X. Another said: "Okay, that's really it. I'm out too if Jimi Blue raps now ..."
But there were also many "Die Passions" viewers who were impressed by the 32-year-old's performance: "I found it really moving" or "It was good, especially Jimi and Nadja", for example, can be read on Facebook.
"A few" family members were rooting for him
In the "Exklusiv Spezial" interview with Frauke Ludowig (60) after the show, Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht revealed that, in addition to his dad Uwe Ochsenknecht (68), "a few" other family members had also kept their fingers crossed for him and tuned in. When Frauke wanted to know who exactly he was referring to, Jimi explained: "That's none of your business."
Most recently, his relationship with the other Ochsenknechts and his statements about his daughter with Yeliz Koc made the headlines. He announced that he was the "involuntary father" of his daughter. The Ochsenknechts have not yet commented publicly on Jimi's "The Passions" performance.
