Corinna Kamper goes steep: racer on tour
In the "Krone" interview, presenter and racing athlete Corinna Kamper demonstrated an incomparable restlessness paired with a passion for beautiful mountain landscapes, which could soon give many others a taste for it ...
It wasn't the first time the Styrian-born athlete had been on skis, but this time it was something new: "I love ski touring. I think it's the perfect sport, you can chat to people, you're out in nature, but you're also doing something for your body and usually in a great setting. So for me, it's one of the coolest sports there is!"
New country, but not uncharted territory
For the first time, however, Kamper entered uncharted territory: together with like-minded people, she headed to South Tyrol to conquer a thousand meters of altitude for three days in a row. "It was my third, fourth and fifth day off this year. Thank God I have so much to do!" Exemplary! The 29-year-old hasn't allowed herself a single day on the sofa so far this year: "On the first two days off, I was on the mountain in Mallnitz. If I don't book tours, then I don't take time off. Everything always happens indoors: I don't do the presentations outdoors, we dance a lot - that happens indoors, the courses for the boat license too, of course ..."
Saluti from the mountains!
She wasn't able to improve her Italian in South Tyrol, as the locals "all spoke German too well", but otherwise she (almost) couldn't stop raving about the northern Italian region.
"The scenery was really breathtaking," she told the Krone, before finally recounting a small excursion mishap: "The weather was fantastic, everyone was wearing shorts. We were at 3,000 meters in the midday sun and of course I had put cream on my face. The little devil on my shoulder wanted me to soak up the sun and maybe get a little tan. The little angel on the other side knew: 'Put some cream on!" The former was to prevail and Kamper took a painful sunburn home with him as a souvenir.
Back in Austria, she can look forward to the next highlight straight away! She will be celebrating Easter with her whole family at her parents' home. A rare opportunity, as she explains: "I haven't seen my sister and her family since Christmas and Danilo and his son will also be there. I'm really looking forward to it!" She only has to avoid one danger if she wants to compete in a dance tournament again with her partner Danilo Campisi on 13 April: "I'm not really a big meat eater, but I love Easter pancakes ... and the ones with fried fat on them ... help, soooo good!"
