He was already there
Mainz! The poker for Niki Veratschnig is getting serious
The WAC wants to show a "different face" against Altach. Niki Veratschnig has already been to Germany - now it's all about the transfer fee. Hendrik Bonmann will definitely be leaving the club - and a Nigerian is on the cards.
The 1:1 draw at WSG Tirol should already be on their minds. Today, the "Wolves" want to plaster the Altachers for the Easter snack! "But we have to show a different face for that. Because we know that we can do better. We worked a lot on our system during the international break and took a step forward," emphasized WAC coach Manni Schmid. Encouragingly, Wolfsburg are unbeaten in nine qualifying round games in a row!
Mainz in the "pole"
A lot is happening off the pitch. WAC talent Niki Veratschnig, for example, is being courted by many top clubs - as the "Krone" already reported! During the international break, the 21-year-old was even invited by German Bundesliga club Mainz - who are now in pole position in the poker game for the right winger!
200,000 euros
The WAC would probably have to be satisfied with the training compensation of 200,000 euros - also due to the opaque and probably contestable contract situation. Because there should be no option in the contract after all, so Veratschnig would be available free of charge in the summer! Even if the Wolfsberg management around "big boss" Dietmar Riegler (who is finally allowed to stand in the players' tunnel again today after his five-match suspension! . .
"Doesn't want to say anything about it"
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann is set to leave the club. The WAC will not take up the option to extend the German's expiring contract. "He has received official confirmation from the club that he can leave because we're focusing on the Austrian squad," explained Schmid. Bonmann, who will be replaced by Lukas Gütlbauer again today, admittedly accepted the decision somewhat dejectedly: "I don't like to say anything about it please."
Chibuike Nwaiwu (20) is a very, very hot topic for the summer transfer window. The defensive midfielder was tested in the winter and is currently still playing in his native Nigeria for first division side Enyimba Aba.
