Bayern flop: “Wasn’t allowed to show what I could do”

Daley Blind has now taken a look back at his time at FC Bayern and lamented that it was difficult to "get a fair chance". Nevertheless, the Dutchman is happy to have joined the record champions. He is now causing a sensation with his new team in Spain.

The former Ajax defender joined FC Bayern in January 2023. However, he did not get much playing time in his six months at the Isar. In the end, he only played 157 minutes. "You have to be honest: I didn't play that much to really show what I can do. That was their decision and my job to accept this role," Blind summed up on "ran". 

He ultimately accepted the role and gave his all in every training session. "I was only at Bayern for six months and it was difficult to get a fair chance," concluded the Dutchman. Nevertheless, it was an experience he does not regret: "It was a very interesting time there and something special to have been a small part of this club." 

Regular player for the surprise team
In the summer, he finally joined Spanish surprise club Girona on a free transfer. The 34-year-old is once again a regular at third-placed Girona: "It's certainly a surprise how things are going with Girona, but I wasn't surprised by my performance. I know my qualities. So it's nice that I was able to show that in La Liga."

Blind has also fought his way back into the Dutch national team. As a result, he should also be involved in the upcoming European Championship, where he will face Austria in Berlin on June 25.
