Despite storm warning

Five sailors fished out of Lake Constance in time

A sailing boat got into distress on Lake Constance on Friday during a storm warning. Emergency services from the water police, fire department and water rescue team were deployed to Fußach Bay to rescue the boat and its crew of five. 

Shortly before 1 p.m., the emergency call was received by the rescue coordination center: a sailing boat in Fußach Bay was having technical problems. The emergency services from the Hard water police, the fire department and the water rescue service were deployed immediately.

They came across the boat, which was carrying the 21-year-old skipper and four other people, in the area of the Fußach fairway. The boat and crew were brought safely to the harbor in Fußach a short time later. 

Engine too weak
It later turned out that the boat did not have a technical defect. The boat's engine was simply too weak to maneuver in the wind and wave conditions - the waves in the area were around 1.30 meters high.  

No one was injured during the rescue operation and no damage was caused. The crews of the V-112 water rescue boat, the Föhn fireboat and the LPD-V-890 water police boat were involved in the operation.
