Spaniards report
Hammer rumor! Alaba about to leave Real Madrid?
There's a really big rumor doing the rounds in Spain that David Alaba is about to leave Real Madrid. The Viennese is said to have already received concrete offers.
If Alaba is fit, he is considered a set player for the Madrilenians under coach Carlo Ancelotti. On December 17, 2023, the 31-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and will be out for several more weeks. This is said to have prompted those responsible at Real to consider that Alaba could be a candidate for sale in the summer. At least that's what the Spanish transfer portal "fichajes.net" reports.
No more room?
According to the report, club bosses fear that there may no longer be a place for Alaba in the squad. Antonio Rüdiger and Eder Militao are set to form the center-back duo in the future. Real are also working on signing the talented 18-year-old French defender Leny Yoro from Lille. That would leave Alaba on the left side of defense, for which the "royals" would like to see former Bayern player Alphonso Davies.
Another point: Alaba is set to earn 22.56 million euros gross per year at Real. A big chunk of money that could be saved.
Offers from Saudi Arabia and England
According to the portal, the 31-year-old has already received concrete offers. These include one from the Saudi Pro League and one from the English Premier League.
One thing is clear: Alaba is currently working meticulously on his comeback. As is well known, it will be a race against time for the EURO in the summer. "I'm doing well under the circumstances. The rehab is going really well, I'm going step by step and trying to take my steps forward - we'll see," he said recently.
It remains to be seen how things will continue for the Austrian team captain after the tournament.
