Democrats: "Crap"
Uproar after Trump posting with Biden tied up
Former US President Donald Trump is once again causing quite a stir. On his online platform Truth Social, head of state Joe Biden is depicted tied up and kidnapped. He is now complaining that the post could lead to violence ...
"This picture of Donald Trump is the kind of crap you post when you're calling for a bloodbath," said a spokesperson for Biden's campaign, referring to a statement made by Trump in the middle of the month. The former president had warned of a "bloodbath" for the US car industry if he did not win the election.
In the video released on Friday afternoon, two pick-up trucks can be seen driving on a highway carrying several Trump-supporting signs and flags. The tailgate of one vehicle has a picture of Biden lying down with his hands tied behind his back:
Regular calls for political violence
Trump regularly calls for political violence, "and it's time for people to take him seriously," the Biden spokesman also said, recalling the storming of the US Capitol in Washington in January 2021 by hundreds of Trump supporters.
Trump's campaign said that Democrats and "lunatics" had not only called for despicable violence against Trump and his family. They would also use the justice system as a weapon against him.
The Secret Service, which protects current and former US presidents, would not comment on whether an investigation would be launched following the release of the video.
One of the toughest US election campaigns in history awaits
Republican Trump and Democrat Biden have now secured the necessary delegate votes in their parties' primaries to be sent back into the race in the presidential election on November 5. This will be a rematch of the 2020 duel, in which Biden emerged victorious. It already seems clear that the election campaign will be one of the toughest in US history.
