Second highest level
Automatically saved draft
Intense precipitation is causing a high avalanche risk on Monday night. According to the province of Tyrol, the Gurgler Group and the central Stubai Alps are particularly affected. An appeal goes out to all winter sports enthusiasts.
The second-highest avalanche danger level (level 4) is to be expected in the Gurgler Group and the Central Stubai Alps due to intensive precipitation in the night to Monday. Up to 50 centimetres of fresh snow could fall in this area by Easter Monday.
According to the country's avalanche warning service, more spontaneous avalanche activity is to be expected there. At the same time, the risk of avalanches is also increasing in other regions of Tyrol, such as the Zillertal Alps and East Tyrol. There is considerable danger there (level 3).
Slab avalanches can be triggered by individual winter sports enthusiasts, but can also occur spontaneously.

Appeal from the state
"On the part of the province, we are appealing to winter sports enthusiasts to find out about the avalanche situation in the respective region at an early stage and to take the warnings from the experts of the Tyrolean avalanche warning service seriously," emphasizes Astrid Mair, Tyrolean State Councillor for Safety. Norbert Lanzanasto from the avalanche warning service of the province of Tyrol adds: "The fresh snow coupled with stormy to gale-force winds are creating extensive accumulations of drifting snow, which significantly increases the risk of avalanches. Slab avalanches can be triggered by individual winter sports enthusiasts, but can also occur spontaneously."
All information on the current avalanche situation in Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino can be found in the daily avalanche report at www.lawinen.report. This is made available online by the experts at 5 p.m. for the following day.
