"Not much time left"
After 40 points: LeBron talks about the end of his career
After a gala performance with 40 points in his Los Angeles Lakers' win against the Brooklyn Nets, NBA star LeBron James has discussed his approaching career end. "I'm already on the other side of the mountain. I'm not playing 21 more years, that's for damn sure," said the 39-year-old on Easter Sunday after the 116-104 victory over the Californians in New York. "I don't know when that door is going to close and I'm going to finish my career, but I don't have much time left."
James made nine threes against the Nets. The most successful shooter in the history of the best basketball league in the world is playing at a high level again this season and currently has the best three-point shooting percentage of his career. In recent years, however, James has been increasingly hampered by injuries. He can pick up an option and extend his contract with the Lakers by one year for 51.4 million US dollars. There have recently been rumors that James could also be looking for a new challenge in the summer.
Doncic unstoppable
Luka Doncic also caused a stir. The Slovenian led the Dallas Mavericks to a 125:107 victory in the Texas duel with the Houston Rockets. Doncic recorded 47 points, twelve assists and seven rebounds. His most spectacular shot was a basket thrown from below almost from the three-point line in the third quarter.
"He is Picasso. Give him a brush and he makes something special. That shot was special," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said.
The Toronto Raptors, who are still playing without Jakob Pöltl, who is convalescing, continued their losing streak. The Canadians lost 120-135 at home to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Raptors' 13th defeat in a row. The Sixers hit a total of 24 shots from beyond the three-point line.
