Man (34) found dead after falling into stream bed

Tragic accident on Monday night in Jochberg (Kitzbühel district): According to initial information, a 33-year-old local man is believed to have fallen around three meters down a steep embankment during the night. He is believed to have died at the scene of the accident. The lifeless man was found on Monday morning.

The 33-year-old had already been searched for by the emergency services after he had not arrived home on Monday. The terrible discovery was made late in the morning: the man's lifeless body was found in a stream bed at Wagstättbichl.

It is still unclear how long he had been lying there. Resuscitation measures initiated immediately were unsuccessful. The night owl was last seen at around 2.30 am in Jochberg. When he was not at home in the morning, relatives reported him missing.

Difficult recovery
The 33-year-old, who has a friend nearby, was probably out and about alone. It is currently unclear how the man got there. According to the fire department, he probably fell at that point and fell around three meters into a steep, inaccessible stream bed. The fire department had to recover the body using a basket stretcher.

"Our luck is that one of our people is in crisis intervention. When a young person like that is found, you can deal with it that way," explains Florian Stanger, commander of the volunteer fire department.

Autopsy ordered
In order to clarify the cause of death, the public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck has ordered an autopsy of the body.
